How to improve your profile and get more clients

How you present your profile makes a big difference to the level of client engagement you'll receive. Here are some useful tips for improving your profile and increasing your bookings.

Profile Picture

First impressions count and your profile picture is the first thing clients will see. Make sure you have a professional photo with good lighting. To illustration what makes a good profile picture, check out these examples of good and bad photos.

The Opening Paragraph

When you show up in search results, the first 180 characters of your bio are visible, so it's important to have a strong opening sentence.

When writing your opening sentence, it's best not to include your name or location, as this is already shown to the client. Instead, talk about your qualifications, approach to working and what areas you specialise in. The above picture is an example of a great opening paragraph.

Writing the perfect biography

You should write your bio in the first person and as if you are talking directly to a client.

Many clients have not yet decided to start therapy and maybe unsure about what type of help they need, so it's important to write in a clear way that expresses how you can help them and the approach you'll take.

Your bio should cover some of the below topics:

  • The areas you specialise in (and can help the client with)
  • Your qualifications and study
  • The different approaches you use during therapy
  • Your values

You should proof read your bio for any spelling and punctation mistakes, these mistakes do affect your client engagement.

Offer Free Consultations

Giving clients the ability to book a free 15 minute video consultation can greatly increases your number of bookings. Our data shows that over 70% of clients book a full session after their free consultation.

Your Availability

The time that you are available will place you higher up the search results. Consider offering evening or weekend sessions to be more visible in the search.

Intro Video

Filming a short introductory video is a great way for clients to connect more fully with you and have confidence in booking their first session. Use the same principles you did when writing your bio and clearly say how you can help the client and what you specialise in.

Get matched with more clients

We offer the ability for clients to fill in a self assessment and get matched with a therapist. For you to have the best chance of being shown in the matches, it's important to fill in all your profile details, including:

  • Date of Birth
  • Languages you speak
  • Insurances/Health funds you work with

Insurances/Health Funds

Many clients are looking to get a rebate from their private health insurance when booking therapy, so it's important for you to add the health funds you work with. By doing this you'll be shown more often in the search results and also on other pages, such as our Bupa page.
